The only word you need to describe Thailand is magical. From the northern temples, fields, and culture, to the southern jaw-dropping islands and beaches, Thailand is a country that you could spend forever exploring.
The backpacker scene in Thailand is impeccable, the food is some of my favorite in the world, and the adventures are incomparable. Thailand is a country that surpasses any and every expectation.
IMPORTANT INFO
Language: The national language of Thailand is Thai. Most locals speak some English.
Currency: Thailand uses the Thai Baht. As of 2021, $1USD = $31 baht.
Money: Thailand has a large tourist scene. Many places accept international credit and debit cards. However, for street food or markets, you will want cash. There are numerous ATMs around the country that all international withdrawals.
Electric: Thailand operates on 230 voltage and 50 Hz. For outlets they use type A, B, and C. I recommend taking a universal outlet.
Safety: I rarely felt unsafe traveling around Thailand. It is considered to be generally safe for tourists. Be cautious of scams. If you are traveling alone, you should still take precautions.
Weather: The best time to visit Thailand is between November and April, when it is dry. However, I have also visited during June/July and found it was also a good time with less tourists.
