Nepal is an absolutely incredible country. It’s known for the famous Himalayan Mountain Range, and I must say- they do not disappoint. However, there’s such much more to the country that just the mountains. Locate between China and India, Nepal has a unique blend of cultural influences. The food is divine, the people are very kind, and there is a sort of peacefulness and tranquility in the air that is difficult to explain.

Obviously, there is an exceptional array of hiking and trekking opportunities in Nepal. Any and every expedition is sure to be a crazy beautiful experience. There is also a number of national parks and beautiful towns to visit across the country. Even if you’re not a hiker, you’ll surely be busy taking in the sites.

Language: The official language of Nepal is Nepali. While most people speak this language, the country is home to over 120 different languages.

Currency: Nepal’s national currency is the Nepalese Rupee (NPR). As of Oct. 2021, $1USD = 112 rupees.

Money: Some more tourist friendly places take international cards, but I definitely recommend carrying cash on you. You can withdraw cash from a number of ATMS in Kathmandu and other towns.

Electric: Nepal operates on a voltage of 230V and a standard frequency of 50 Hz. Plugs types are C, D, and M. I recommend having a universal adapter.

Safety: Nepal is generally safe to travel. I never felt unsafe while there. However, you should take necessary precautions.

Weather: The best time to visit Nepal is October to December, when the weather is mild and the skies are clear enough to see the mountains. January through April is dry season, but it can get cold. From April to September is rainy season, which isn’t as recommended. However, I went to Nepal in June and had no issue with the weather or rain.
