TRAVEL SNAPSHOT
Spain is wonderful. That’s all you need to know (kidding). But seriously, Spain is one of my favorite countries. There’s not many places you can buy a delicious 3 euro bottle of wine made right down the road. Incredible.
I’ve spent ample time here, visiting friends, walking the Camino de Santiago, drinking Sangria, eating patatas bravas (yum), and more. I’ve loved every province I’ve been to and I truly think they are all worth seeing. Don’t just hit up Barcelona and Madrid- venture up to Galicia and down south to Andalucia. You won’t regret it.
IMPORTANT INFO
Language: The official language of Spain is Spanish. However, some provinces have their own dialect (ex: Euskera, Catalan, Galician).
Currency: Spain’s national currency is the Euro (EUR). As of 2022, $1 USD = 1.13 euros.
Money: Most places in cities accept international card. However, I definitely recommend carrying cash in smaller cities and in the country-side (and also for public transportation). ATMs are everywhere.
Electric: Spain operates on a voltage of 230V and a standard frequency of 50 Hz. Plugs types are C and F. I recommend having a universal adapter.
Safety: Spain is very safe to travel. I walked across the whole country by myself and never had a single problem. I’ve heard of pickpocketing, however, in tourist hotspots.
Weather: The best time to visit Spain is late spring or early autumn (April-June, or August-October). There are less crowds and more mild weather.
